It is honestly not a “holier than thou” situation. I smoked once, didn’t care for it, and never tried it again.
The thing for me is that I’ve seen it destroy too many people close to me. I hate that people think it’s a harmless way to have fun. Yeah, it can be harmless. But if you let it get out of control it will spiral very quickly.
I’ve had several friends who swore they would never do drugs start smoking weed occasionally. Everyone seems to think that weed is just a fun thing to take your mind off of everything. That it’s not something that can be abused. But that’s not true. It can be abused. And from what I’ve witnessed, it’s the ultimate stepping stone to worse, more addictive drugs.
I live and work on the racetrack. Drugs are everywhere. I get offered more times in a day than normal people probably do in a year. I am around it all the time. It doesn’t bother me when other people smoke, but it’s easy for me to say no because I want to be taken seriously. And yes, I feel that people who smoke weed don’t take life seriously.
Before the hate mail commences, let me say this:
Have fun however you want. If you are my friend, I will tell you that you are being stupid. And then I will butt out because it’s none of my business. So do what you want, but don’t hate on me because I don’t need to smoke weed to live my life.
Alright. Hate mail is welcome now.

I agree with what you’re saying. I took a hit before but it barely counts. I have friends who smoke and aren’t affected negatively, but people are different and the effects vary strongly.

I don’t smoke either, though a lot of my friends smoke religiously. I just, simply put, don’t need it.
